With the highest average speed of any circuit in the Formula One Championship the Italian GP will prove a challenge for both driver and the car. The drivers spend 75% of the lap at full throttle. Monza also marks the last of the European races before the cars head off on their extended seven race round the world trip.
When asked about the Monza Grand Prix Pastor Maldonado responded very positively. “Monza is one of my favourite circuits. I love the circuits that are rich in history, after all Formula One is all about history, and Monza is rich in it. We will be driving around the circuit with speeds of up to 340kph. Most of the corners are high speed which makes it more of an adrenaline boost. I think if you asked all of this year’s drivers they would all say that they are looking forward to Monza. It gives everyone the chance to open the car up and see what it is capable of on the long straights.”
